Garage Door Springs - Torsion Springs

Garage door springs are special mechanisms that allow the garage door to open and close. These springs can be divided in two types: torsion and extension springs.

Torsion springs come in a set of two springs that are located above each side of the door. Since twisted torsion springs are meant to lift an extremely heavy door, they have a lot of tension in them, and that's what you need to keep in mind if you are thinking of replacing them. It's definitely better to call for a professional and to spend $50-$70, instead of placing yourself in tremendous danger while replacing torsion garage door springs.
